Hello Everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘“ ๐Ÿ“ข Today, I am very excited to announce a new chapter in my career. Iโ€™ve made the big decision to join Meta as a Developer Advocate ๐ŸŽ‰ to support developers and products as well, all in an effort to help build the future of computing. Many of you know that Iโ€™ve been creating YouTube content specifically for XR over the last 5 years. For the first 3 years, it was a side hobby, but then I quit my developer job to focus 100% of my time on YouTube. I also launched Learn XR, where Iโ€™ve taught and continue to teach people around the world about VR and AR development. Honestly, itโ€™s been a dream come true, and that part of my life isnโ€™t changing. With my acceptance of the position at Meta, you'll see me more at events and on Meta-owned channels, continuing to support you in building for XR and beyond. Absolutely not. Iโ€™ll keep creating content for years to come, thatโ€™s part of who I am. I love learning new tools, SDKs, programming languages / features, and sharing that knowledge with all of you. Iโ€™ll continue sharing on YouTube, X, Instagram, and other social platforms because I truly believe there will always be a need to help developers overcome barriers through educational content. ๐Ÿ’ก๐™’๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก ๐™„ ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก ๐™—๐™š ๐™ข๐™–๐™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฃ-๐™ˆ๐™š๐™ฉ๐™– ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ? Absolutely. Iโ€™ll be shifting my focus from hardware to purely development, which is how I started on YouTube. I made tons of AR Foundation and XR Toolkit videos that were hardware-agnostic, and I think thatโ€™s what made my channel so helpful to many of you. Moving forward, Iโ€™ll focus on XR tools within game engines, AI, and programming tips, as those apply to pretty much any device on the market. ๐Ÿ’ก๐˜ฝ๐™ช๐™ฉ ๐™ฌ๐™๐™ฎ ๐™™๐™ž๐™™ ๐™„ ๐™˜๐™๐™ค๐™ค๐™จ๐™š ๐™ˆ๐™š๐™ฉ๐™–? Ever since I started making XR content, I saw so much interest from so many different devs in building XR experiences, but the cost of entry into XR was incredibly high. XR devices were practically unreachable for indie developers or hobbyists. Meta has been lowering those barriers with more accessible hardware and tools. Their ability to move fast as a company, create amazing products, and pivot to make XR practical has been truly inspiring. In talking with the team, they really care about developer success. Your success will enable the future. You're going to build the cool and exciting experiences that will bring all the people to come back day after day. And, I'm excited to help you do it. This is a decision that took me half a year to make a reality. While Iโ€™ve loved working as a solo creator, I soon realized that to make a bigger impact, I needed to pivot. In my mind, this change will allow me to help even more people, not only through videos but also by participating in many future in-person events. Iโ€™ll continue making plenty of XR content (which I love), though probably not as much at first since Iโ€™m going through onboarding. But as I get more familiar with my new Dev Advocate role, Iโ€™ll gradually bring it back to a regular schedule while adding more content on Meta channels as well. Iโ€™m super excited about the ๐Ÿ‘“ FUTURE! and I canโ€™t wait to keep helping you bring your ideas to reality! Best, Dilmer #developers #meta #xr

Honestly, these are the most practical smart glasses with AI available today. Iโ€™ve been using this special edition version with live translations for a month or so and theyโ€™re extremely useful! ๐Ÿ‘‰ Iโ€™ll be posting a full review & how I use them for development and other tasks on YouTube this week.

This a very cool idea and it reminds me of the Project Setup Tool but taking it to a deeper level where it helps you with VR optimization!
We are working on a tool that can optimize a VR game in just one click! It can scan not only your settings, but tell you what needs to improve in your scene. Super cool to quickly optimize your game, but also for learning how optimization works! What's your thought on this? ๐Ÿค”

Well, thatโ€™s a wrap for #GDC 2025 ๐ŸŽ‰! It was my first time speaking at a major conference, and honestly, I canโ€™t wait to do many more presentations and workshops. When I arrived on Monday, I was laser-focused. I got to the conference room super early, spoke with the AV staff about the setup, tested my computer, grabbed my clicker, and walked around the room to make sure I felt comfortable and Iโ€™ve got to say, it paid off. This year, Iโ€™ll be at every major event, with a strong focus on education. Iโ€™ll continue covering what I teach today on YouTube, but also create a two-way feedback loop: sharing what developers are asking for or struggling with directly with engineers at Meta, while also bringing new tools and updates from the inside out. Super hyped ๐Ÿ”ฅ for the next event, and it was such a pleasure meeting so many amazing professionals and students throughout this incredible experience!

The key is not to aim for perfection, but to know that you can always deliver and improve every single day. Imagine how much progress you can make by simply getting a little better each day. Focus on that, and make sure youโ€™re building and creating something to show along the way. ๐Ÿ’กWhy do I say this? Because too many people build in a vacuum, and that doesnโ€™t work today. Build in public and bring value to the world. That alone is an incredible skill to develop. Trust me on this: do it, and in a few years, your life and most importantly the lives of those youโ€™ve helped will change completely!

We wrapped up another day at #GDC 2025, and once again, it was an incredible experience. Today was especially cool because developers got to try the GDC demo I created right at the booth. It was so fun to see them drawing and testing the new Passthrough Camera Access for the first time.

Wait time is over! โŒ› Introducing ๐’๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐€๐ˆ ๐‡๐š๐œ๐คathon, where ๐œ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ -๐ž๐๐ ๐ž ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐จ๐๐š๐ฅ ๐€๐ˆ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ ๐—๐‘ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐๐ฌ๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ญ ๐ ๐ฅ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ. The reactions towards the recent camera-access announcements prove that developers and studios are eager for truly context-aware experiences. Last year at ๐—๐‘๐€๐ˆ ๐‡๐š๐œ๐ค, our brilliant team managed to create a Unity plugin that connects headset cameras to LLMsโ€” paving the way for hackers to build 25+ compelling XR & AI use cases. The results blew our minds and showed us we are just at the beginning of a genesis moment and how much potential and different use cases can be unleashed with the superpowers of MR and multimodal AI. This year, weโ€™re going all-in on the ๐Ÿง  AI+XR duo ๐Ÿ‘“ Multimodal AI and digital sensing capabilities will be front and center at the SensAI Hack, where top AI engineers and researchers team up with XR prototyping masterminds to demonstrate what is possible with the next generation of context-aware apps.
